Waiting on a dental clearance? Here is how to keep it moving.

Your care team may need a dentist to confirm your mouth is ready before treatment starts. These steps and one printed page keep that request from getting lost.

Four questions to ask your care team

  1. Who needs the dental clearance, and what date do they need it by?
  2. Which dentist should I see, or may I choose my own?
  3. Who will tell me the report arrived, and how?
  4. If I have heard nothing by a date we agree now, who do I call?

Four steps

  1. Ask the care team for the request in writing, with the treatment date.
  2. Book the dentist and hand over the request. Ask for the report to be sent to the care team.
  3. Ask the dentist's office to confirm the day the report goes out.
  4. Check back on the date you agreed. If nobody has heard, call the care team coordinator.
